New Members

Our chapter strives to support new members through a number of activities aimed at creating an enjoyable and positive learning experience for both you and your dog. Some of those activities include a new member orientation class held each spring where participants receive new member handbook, discuss dog handling basics, review typical chapter training day activities, and discuss best practice safety & etiquette guidelines. During chapter training days, new handlers and their puppies are typically teamed up with one of the more experienced chapter members with the goal to assist and guide the group through the beginning stages of training. For those willing to make a more elevated commitment in both time and birds, participation in advanced training sessions is encouraged. In addition, on the    "We are Here to Help" tab, experienced member contact information is available.

The new dog training web pages on the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources website went live May 26, 2015. The new web pages also contain a lot more information about dog training in general.

The address for the main WI DNR page is http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/hunt/dogtraining.html

I think that many members will like to see the map http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/hunt/dogtrainingmap.html that displays all of the dog training grounds in the state.
